Discover How Your Brain Works And How To Get The Most Out Of It

"Aristotle was famous for knowing everything. He taught that the brain exists merely to cool the blood and is not involved in the process of thinking. This is true only of certain persons."

Part of your learning process will be to spend a little bit of time studying the latest brain research and the functions of the brain. Studying this research will help give you a better understanding of how the brain works and how brain development takes place.

First of all before moving into more esoteric study of the mind and it's functioning it would be helpful to get an overview of the
Brain Anatomy.

Let's face it, who of us haven't at one stage or another in our lives wished we had the gifts and abilities of someone else? Well the reality is we each have our own unique set of gifts and abilities hardwired into our brains. The trick is to work out what they are and how to make the most of them.

Fortunately there are a lot of resources avaliable to help in this area and articles such as Implications to Diverse Learners will help set you on the path to understanding. But don't worry it's not only about theory, you can improve your ability to learn not just with application but also with various techniques, read more about them in Brain Based Learning.

Another area that you can learn about and seek to improve your knowledge of self is Emotional Intelligence. This is an area rich in detail and well worth whatever study you put into it.

Unfortunately some of those in the personal development marketplace have a tendency to tell people they can do anything they want and the sky's the limit. Often this is not good advice as there have to be some sort of natural limits based on what we were born with but this doesn't mean we shouldn't push ourselves to the max! The reality is that we are each wired in a certain way and if we are able to get to the bottom of our own wiring then we are well on the way to living a life of fulfillment instead of one of frustration.

What does this mean? For example it may be that the great love of your life is music and your life's desire is to be one of the world's great musicians. As admirable a goal as that is, if you were not lucky enough to be born with a brain that is naturally endowed with potential for musical ability then you are unlikely to achieve your goal. Now this does not mean that you cannot derive a great deal of pleasure from playing as well as listening to music but the key is to recognize your strengths and weaknesses and to work with them. This is where the science of brain research can hopefully help a little to set you in the right direction.

The type of situation you really want to avoid is to pursue a career in an area you are passionate about but unfortunately have little or no natural ability. Sometimes these abilities can be learned but with other skill sets they really do require a certain type of brain wiring to be excelled at. However do not take this too far and be afraid to even attempt hobbies to which you feel you are not a natural, explore your limitations, have fun with new challenges, test yourself!

There's so much more to learn about your brain so buy some of the recommended books and enjoy yourself as you dive a bit deeper into this fascinating subject.
